I have a rant that I would like to know if any one else thinks the way I do?
The rant is:
When someone post with a picture or two, I think it should be a requirment to post where you are located, you don't have to give the exact address where you are, just like what county you are in and the state.
Is that asking too much?
I have been in all but three states in the lower 48 states and like different locations as I might have been in your corner of the woods.
What does any one think about this?
I don't know the moderators, but would like their input.
This forum is a good way for this senior person to pass the time of day and to reminince about the past.
You notice I didn't say this old person, because old age isn't in my vocalaberty.

Well I have a bunch of posts (19,400) and I often indicate where I live when it is germain. On the Modern view list, the contributors have an option for a "profile" (yours is almost blank) Take a Look! Jim

Why? Are you talking about land scape pictures or any pictures.I just posted a picture of me stacking logs with a 2n but can't imagine why anyone would be put out by not knowing where.I have told the state I live in but only when it's pertinent to subject or if I am asked.Maybe it's cause I am in the live free or die State.

In an ideal world people do not go looking to make trouble for other people but we do not live in a perfect world. You can get on somebody's wrong side for just being who you are. I know where I am from some people whose family has lived there as long as Europeans have been here do not like it when "newbies" show them up (at least in their mind). Sometimes it is a good idea to keep a reasonably low profile.

I know I'm getting a little long in the tooth but I fail to see in your post what county & state you reside in. Your question can be solved if every poster would register filling out their profile as to residence. Then when you open Modern view each registered members residence would be displayed if they filled in their profile fully!!!!!
PS: If you're on Classic view I live in TEXAS

I understand your wanting to know the area of the pictures, and I also think it would be nice to know where it was shot. HOWEVER I have a real problem, with people who want the governing body, to legislate controls on the offending parties, solely for someones personal convenience. It reminds me with what is already wrong, with OUR country.

Go to modern view (top right corner of primary dialog box) in the right hand top area there is a red box with blue lettering. Select "log in" from that menu. When logged in, select "Profile" from the left bottom of the red box. Change or add to the material there. Close and there you have it. Jim

If a guy really wants to know where the poster is located, sometimes it isn't that hard to tell on this site, although people with satellite internet providers can throw a few people off the trail.
By looking at your I.P. address, it seems you are close to Louisville, Kentucky. Am I close?

If you want to know where people are located you need to sign up on Facebook...LOL

I think this is just a personal hang up you have. It doesn't matter where we are all from. We are here to share common interests not personal information. I also think you should of titled your post. "What area are you from"? I think you would have gotten more responses in the form you were wanting. You could of recorded these responses on a note for your files. This is just my 2 cents. I just hate to see everyone making fun of you as they have...

I don't quite understand your paranoia.

My user name is OH - 961, and my profile just states "Central Ohio".
I challenge you to find my exact location using just that little bit of information.

The lack of location in posts is my pet peeve on this board. It is the only board I read that people won't give at least a "NW", "SE", or just a state name, and I use several message boards.
It is particularly relevant when someone is posting about severe weather or crop conditions "here" and no indication of what "here" is!
Y'all have a nice day now.

I kind of understand what you are saying, but more so when someone gives a weather report or crop/condition report and you have no idea where they are at/from. Now THAT gets my undies in a bunch!

When I first found this site, I didn't realize the area involved. (as in posters from all 'round the world), and it didn't occur to me to include a hint as to my location, but I do try to mention it occasionally. In case anyone doesn't know, or gives a s##t,I live in central North Carolina, about five miles south of the NC Zoo. I just hope none of them critters ever get loose, I'm too close for comfort!
I do enjoy knowing where photos are taken and how the country looks elsewhere, but if the one posting chooses not to reveal location, that's OK by me.

After dealing with the harsh realities of one incidence of identity theft, you got about all the personal information I'm willing to give out freely, and that is NONE. If you don't already know me, or know where I'm from, handing out that information won't help you much and from experience, it can hurt me plenty. Call me paranoid, I don't care.

I don't make any secret of where I am. My picture has been posted on here as many times if not more than anybody else. I always let everybody know what shows I'm going to if anybody wants to meet up. I've got a problem though, with making it mandatory that I tell where a picture was taken.

Only time lack of location bothers me is when someone is asking the value of something because on many things location will determine value.

I agree on needing location with value of tractor/equip., questions about crops or the weather. The "only reason" I have the state I reside in included in my handle is this subject was brought up` several yrs back.

I most generally am on modern view on here. I can see where some are from. I figure some just run classic, some want to hide, it's their prerogative and don't mater to me. Anyone ever google their name? WOW, take about everyone seeing your dirty underwear.
